When I first came up with the idea for my stories, I didn’t think of a universe name. Nowadays, you can’t pick up a comic book or watch a movie or television show without it having some ties to a wider universe. People use the universe name as a broad description for the comics, movies or shows they are reading or watching. Since I was planning on expanding my superhero universe, I thought it would be a good idea to have all my creations under one umbrella name. But since I am who I am, I don’t want to just copy what people are doing, I want to put my own unique spin on things. So, I moved away from the “verse” and tried something different.
I came up with six different names to encapsulate my books and I had a contest. I offered the names up and asked my fans, and anyone else that wanted to win my contest, which of the six did they liked best. I even let them come up with their own suggestions. The name with the most votes won. Surprisingly, the name I thought had the least chance of winning was the one the audience liked most. And the EVOREALM was born.
Evo is the name given to the people in my stories who have developed superpowers. It comes from scientists, in the story, saying that they are the next step on the evolutionary ladder. Realm is another word for kingdom or dominion, and these characters all live in my realm of existence.
