In a few days I’m going to be sitting down to start writing the follow up book to Deadlock. It’s been quite the learning experience. Early in my first book, I had my wife read the chapters as I wrote them. When the book was finished she said, “Don’t be angry, but your later chapters are better than your earlier ones.”
I wasn’t mad. As a matter of fact, that was one of the best complements I could have gotten. It told me that I was getting better as I went. I spent almost as much time learning the craft of writing as I did writing my book. Anyone can write. I don’t want to be just anyone. It’s a lofty goal but someday I’d like the authors I look up to to recognize me as an equal.
I’ve put a lot of work into getting to this point. I spent months working on my outline and getting the story just right. And unlike Deadlock, I already have the title for the new book. I’ll save that for later. I’m hoping by doing all the prep work this book will come together faster and be as good as, or better than, Deadlock.
I want to thank everyone who has followed my journey so far. You’re a small group, but a loyal one. In the upcoming weeks and months you’ll get new posts detailing how the writing is coming along. And some fun surprises thrown in as well. If you haven’t subscribed, now is the perfect time. Don’t be left out when the fun begins.
